I just realized Aladdin is pulling on Carpet's tassels while they're flying and just...why is that way too funny to me? XD

I don’t necessarily mind Jafar being made younger so much as I mind Aladdin also looking to be about thirty. I mean, a thirty-year-old hitting on a fifteen-year-old isn’t really something I want to see either. :b Not that she actually looks 15. She looks late teens/early twenties. But regardless, Aladdin looks a full decade older than she does.

Would agree that Aladdin is cocky but NOT arrogant. And that bit sort of made him seem arrogant.

Also, yeah, I'd agree that he's "adorable" but I just wish he didn't seem like he was Jafar's age. At the very very least. But like I said before, I am just going to treat this as an entirely new movie and not an adaptation.

Yes, the arrogant part is not exactly fitting for him and I do hope this won’t be played much outside of that scene.

I feel like they changed the ages as I can see Disney getting criticism on that (Jasmine being 15 while Jafar is a creepy old man). I guess they made this so that part with Jasmine and Jafar won’t be so disturbing, though I’m still not liking this Jafar (my friend who is a Jafar fangirl actually dislikes this new Jafar a lot).

Also funny but somebody already said the new version looks better than the original. Unsure what to think on that...

Well, he can be quite cocky at times, lol. Just hope they won't go too far with his flaws and still make him likeable.

Well, can see your point. I just prefer to remain faithful to the characters (and Genie is one I love for who he is for over a decade now) but I will be happy to see Will Smith giving an actual good performance and likeable character.

Admittably though, if it indeed brings in changes while still remain good on its own, I will applaud that. Like you said, we have the original to love. Just hope they will pull it off.

Yeah, agree on that. That part made me rise an eyebrow. I get that they probably tried to show Aladdin's side where he tries to be someone else in his prince attire (as he finds himself unworthy and worthless), but I hope they won't go too far.

Outside of that little part though, I didn't find Aladdin bad here. I find Jafar way worse as he has literally nothing. No power, no charisma, nothing. He's just so bland. Just amazes me how we didn't get Ben Kingsly who already played a Jafar-like character in the 2010 Prince of Persia. Seriously, he would nail that role.

Plus let's face it, this Genie won't be the same Genie we knew from the original. From what I see Will smith is just playing himself, which is a bit off-putting for me, especially with the design choice they went for him. Disney clearly tries to show that this is Will Smith.

My issue with him is not even that he's not Robin Williams as honestly I would have loved to see Jim Carrey as Genie here (I think he has similar energy like Robin did and could pull off the serious side as well), I just personally don't find Will Smith fitting for this role. Mind you I liked his older movies such as MIB, but lately I just don't find him that good, especially for such an iconic role as Genie. I want to see the character, not Will Smith turning the character into himself, simple as that.

Now I don't deny that Will Smith will give at least a decent performance and will probably be the show stealer, but I'm personally disappointed how I don't see the character when I look at the film because they made it damn sure we recognise Will Smith in asap.

Argh, you know, it's just...I cannot even begin to express my disappointment in the casting for Aladdin. My last hope now is that he can capture Aladdin's spirit.

Funnily enough after this trailer I think he's a good Aladdin. Sure he doesn't look as attractive as cartoon version, but honestly based on the trailer I think he has the potential to capture Aladdin well.

I'm more worried about Naomi Scott now. Ignoring the articles I really don't see her that compelling yet as Jasmine. Idk, just something bugs me about her.

*shrug* I think he's adorable.

Still trying to decide whether or not I'm going to listen to the soundtrack before I see the film.

This trailer makes me a tad more optimistic. But I thought Mena's singing was awful. I hope maybe it'll sound better in the actual movie!

Hate is a harsh word as I definitely don't hate it. I like some stuff in it so far and adore that little scene where Genie pushes Aladdin to Jasmine with magic. That's just so typical of them Razz
