I just started this book "Haroun and the Sea of Stories" by Salman Rushdie, written in 1990. Its writing style is very unique, like it was meant to be an artistic maybe Fantasia-esque cartoon. It's a modern Arabic fairytale.
Anywho, there's one part where Haroun and his father Rashid travel to a "Moody Land" that
Quote: |
changed constantly, according to the moods of its inhabitants. In the Moody Land, the sun would shine all night if there were enough joyful people around, and it would go on shining until the endless sunshine got on their nerves; then an irritable night would fall, a night full of mutterings and discontent, in which the air felt too thick to breathe. And when people got angry the ground would shake; and when people were muddled or uncertain about things the Moody Land got confused as well - the outlines of its buildings and lamp-posts and motor-cars got smudgy, like paintings whose colours had run, and at such times it could be difficult to make out where one thing ended and another began... |
Sounded slightly familiar to me... _________________

There's been Aladdin references in at least three movies this year (She's Out of My League, Sex and the City 2, and Date Night) - I feel like something is about to happen |

If you listen at a certain angle, it sounds like Mirage is speaking as that fortune teller when he predicts Aladdin's doom. Maybe I was making myself hear Mirage.

In my history class today, we were studying Napoleon and the Battle of the Pyramids, and when he mentioned mamluks...well you can see where my mind went. I honestly couldn't keep a straight face for the rest of the period _________________

After watching the Jafar outtake from Family Guy on Youtube (and wiping away tears of laughter), I started wandering around other Aladdin stuff on Youtube, and stumbled over the scene where Jasmine seduces Jafar.
Which I didn't really care to watch, having seen it millions of times but the following 1000+ comments of people arguing over it were highly amusing. |

Well, he has his smile. And probably poofy hair, if it didn't have product in it. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

He does look like him, though is it a bad thing that I have absolutely no idea who he is...? |

XD He's on one of those tween shows on Nickelodeon called Victorious. My brother was flipping through the channels one day and I made him stop because the guy looked like Aladdin. _________________

Just that explains so much for me
I think the only tween show I've ever seen is Hannah Montana, and even then I think I've seen around two episodes... |
