I love the names Ali (son) and Jenie (girl)... just because they are subtle reminders of why Aladdin and Jasmine are where they are today. |
I never thought they would name thier daughter Jenie.lolBut then they'd get confused saying Genie or Jenie. Jenie(or Genie)did this, or that. Do you suppose Genie would be willing to take the blame? :DArabian names are so pretty, though. They're my favorites, even if you do come across one now and then that may be a little difficult to pronounce.
Maybe they'll name at least one of them after their grandparents. Anyonoe here know what the names of Aladdin and Jasmine's mothers were? _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. As far as I know, the names of the mothers have never been mentioned anywhere. (Though we have "Hamed" for the Sultan, as that name was in one of the old versions of the song Arabian Nights.) _________________

Actually, it's rumored to be Bobolonious for the Sultan's name because his nickname, as told by his great grandfather Bobolonious, was "Little Bobo". Hamed is distant his ancestor. |

Wasn't it Abu the one who Iago called Bobo? _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Perhaps you are right in thinking of me as an alien. I know I am different from you. You see-I do not kill." |

I think it was Iago who called Abu "Bobo" instead of Abu in ROJ |

Now if Iago just said the Bobo whenever the mentioned Abu, instead of the monkey. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Perhaps you are right in thinking of me as an alien. I know I am different from you. You see-I do not kill." |

Ali would be so completely obvious and cliche, though. It's just screaming typical name for their son |
I totally agree. That was, in fact, one of the reasons I'd ended up discarding it.
As for their son - (I'll stick with the name "Babkak" for now, since it works) he'd be more formally known as Babkak el Aladdin, or perhaps Babkak el Abu Aladdin. So, because of the way names back then worked, he'd still have his father's name attached to his own. |
I guess that would explain how Al knew Cassim's name, when Saluk was like, 'You're time draws to a close, Cassim.' I'm surprised Genie let him go to face the forty thieves alone. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Well, for one I figured he knew his own father's name possibly through his mother and stories he heard. Maybe even through some relatives. I don't think he knows much about him, but I do think he'd know his name.
And Genie stayed behind to work on the pavillion, but I think it's more than just that because you're right--Genie wouldn't let him go alone. |

It was funnier that way, though. Iago freaked out more. Not to mention that they would probably have just kidnapped Cassim trying to rescue him.
That would have made Saluk happy. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Perhaps you are right in thinking of me as an alien. I know I am different from you. You see-I do not kill." |

My theory is that he does know. Because in "The Garden of Evil" he seemed the romantic type...
Maybe Jasmine's mother was the grounded type... and they equaled each other out.... now he's only half of a whole person.
I know that makes no sense, but I hope you get the point I'm trying to make. _________________ MysticMeg's Stories on THE LIBRARY OF AGRABAH!!!

I can't really picture the Sultan being romantic. A little cute, and maybe playful, maybe. Just playing with his toys. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. *points to the Aladdin ep "From Hippsodeth, with love"* He really is a romantic dreamer. You see that when he is staring down at Aladdin and Jasmine who are having a water fight and he wishes he could experience young love again. He starts to talk about the feelings you get and Genie shows up thinking he is talking about possible heart failure |
