As I was watching Pueblo Chico Infierno Grande last night, I remembered a scene about something Leonarda's sister said to her, after she gave her niece an apple. That you shouldn't accept or gives apples, because if you do, you are inviting someone to commit a sin, or something. In this case, Genaro gave Leonarda the apples, and now they're having an affair, him being a poor 20 yr old boy, she being a wealthy, now formerly respectable widow of about 40 or something.
Then I remembered that Aladdin gave Jasmine apples twice. Once in the hovel, and another in the AWNW scene. Just struck me kind of an odd coincidence.

Sounds to me like a cultural superstition stemming from the widespread belief that Eve gave Adam an apple in the Garden of Eden. (No specific fruit was mentioned.)

| Hmm...never heard than before.Although,I guess in Al and Jas's case they never comitted any huge sins,even with the apple thing (which,btw,Aladdin looked SO hot doing!) |

Well, they committed a sin by stealing the apples, but other than that, no.

I wonder who decided it was apples.
Once, at my church, during youth group, they were playing a trivia game. The question was why were Adam & Eve kicked out of the Garden of Eden, to which my friend's son, who was maybe eight or nine at the time said, "They ate the peaches off the tree."
I still have yet to find out where he got peaches.

I suspect the apples may've come from artists who used apples as the fruit in their paintings. People saw the pictures and ended up with the subconcious notion that it was apples... and it stuck.

I always get mad at Rasoul when he breaks in right there. They were about to kiss! And if he hadn't shown up at all...

Heeey, what are you implying? Al is too polite to try anything too forward! Okay, maybe he's had a few girls in his hovel. But the guy does apple tricks to impress a girl. And the carpet has better intuition about girls than he does. It doesn't exactly say "play playa" to me |

Hmmm...I was always under the impression that Aladdin didn't have too many (if any) girlfriends before Jasmine.
I know what he said in that one episode, but maybe he was just telling Jas what he thought she wanted to hear. (Which ep was that, BTW?)

It's always been a personal judgement he was with at least *ONE* other girl before Jasmine with or without the line in EMDJ. You can argue either way, but I like giving him a shifty past |
