This doll is creepy and doesn't look like Jasmine:

Yeah, the new UK dolls are absolutely awful, ESPECIALLY their clothing. Jasmine's face is weird, but it's that outfit that's bothering me the most. I'm not sure what they were smoking when they made that decision, but they need to get off it right now Laughing

Yeah, most of those UK Disney Store dolls aren't pretty,Simba Toys have pretty but they don't make many Jasmine dolls,it's mostly Aurora,Cinderella,Snow White and Ariel that they make dolls, yeah, her outfit is ugly XD,Ariel is way worse thought.

I just read an article about the new US princess dolls, and how they were trying really hard to make them actually look like the characters this time instead of like generic Barbie dolls. Looks like the UK went in the opposite direction. Laughing

Wow, it's amazing how...different that doll looks. Laughing In a way I'm shocked. I never thought Disney would have such a drastic change in their dolls like Barbie has. I had two favorite Jasmine dolls growing up and it's amazing how different it looks compared to what the kids have now:

Holiday Jasmine 1999

Jasmine and Rajah set

Salukfan-The perfact expression to that doll.
Is it really hard to make a doll of an animated character?.
Fidget Goblinweb-The last doll is based on one of Jasmine's outfits from the series? (I think it's from When Chaos Comes Calling),thought the Mattel dolls and the Simba Toys looks like the characters.

^I don't know. Embarassed I'm not very well versed in the series and have probably seen only a quarter of the entire run though not chronological order.

Yeah, that last one is a lot like her white outfit she wears in that episode.

Jasmine dolls in general have gone down hill. I have all of them released in the United States and I can tell when the Disney Princess collection hit because the amount of GLITTER on the DP dolls is insane Laughing. All the ones before it had very little glitter, if even. And she was darker Razz

^I agree but I feel worse for Esmeralda and Pocahontas! I haven't seen a doll of them in ages! Sad Esmeralda's dolls were especially pretty.

There's a new Pocahontas doll at the Disney Store here in the United States, but they haven't made a new Esmeralda doll in a while. I think the Disney Store yeeeears ago made one.

Pretty much exactly the same, except for the color. I wonder who was copying who? Wink

Edit: found that article again, the interview with the doll designer:

http://babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/archive/2009/03/04/interview-disney-princesses-toy-designer.aspx

One thing I was glad to see was that he said the Jasmine dolls were now one of the most popular. Shocked

I'm almost positive the Rajah and Jasmine gift set pre-dates the series.

There were doll clothes released of some of her other outfits from the series, too, released at the same time as the gift set (her Secret of Dagger Rock pink dress, and that blue coat from Shadow of a Doubt; neither are exact but you can tell where it's from if you've seen the series), and the Arabian Lights Jasmine says it was inspired by the series once it came out, but she doesn't wear anything like that in the series. I don't think they did any outfits of hers from the series while it was on Laughing

And I'm not surprised she is. First off, that new Cinderella doll they released is kind of ugly Laughing, and the other ones look a lot closer to what they look like individually. I don't care much for Jasmine's blue eye shadow, but the face is nicer compared to what it looked like before. These are all still on the Disneydirect.com website.
