Is is just me? Or has anyone else noticed that a Disney character rarely has both parents - especially mums!

Aladdin
Jasmine
Pocahontas
Snow White
Cinderella
Tarzan
Jane
Elsmerelda
Quasimodo(well his mum dies)
Simba (well his dad dies)
Bambi (mum dies)
Megara
Ariel
Eric
Phillip
Belle
Beast / Prince Adam
Dumbo
Mowgli
Lilo & Nani...

notice a pattern? I think like only a few characters have had both their parents :

Bambi ( at one point )
Simba ( at one point )
Aurora
Tarzan ( at one point )
Mulan
Hercules

Bambi does have a father... but I can't remember if he dies or not....

He can't be the prince because Bambi becomes the King of the forest... so how would that work?

Sry my bad. I meant:

"Bambi's father is the KING of the forest? So that would be why everybody called him the prince!!!"

No, I think the title is "the Great Prince of the Forest". Which now begs the question of when did animals all of the sudden needed a monarchy?

LMFWPO!!!

That pic is hilarious!!! And soo true!!!

Actually, there was an article in Pluggedin Magazine saying that this gives out bad messages to viewers. If it's posted online somewhere, I'll try to find it for you...

I actually recall reading something about that in a Disney animation book. It's deliberate, really. Since they come from more non-traditional families, it's supposed to make their story a bit more dramatic.

...gives the character a stronger personality and the want to give their child the things they didn't have?

hercules didn't have his biological mom-his biological mom wasn't actually hera. it was this other chick zeus had *yet another* affair with. but of course, disney almost always changes orignal stories to happier ones. *sigh*
