Second Chance

The
only characters I own are the angel and Isabel. The others belong to Disney.
The beliefs reflected by the characters are not necessarily the beliefs of me
or the people who created the characters.  Rated: G

Cassim was dead. Aladdin and Jasmine stood near the bed.
Genie mourned as well. Aladdin was calm yet there was still a hint of sorrow in
his eyes.

“You know what Aladdin. He may have had a horrid past,
but he was a kind man. I think he redeemed himself.” Said Jasmine.

“My mother always said that he was spiritual. He had a
philosophy. It was 'With faith and love Allah’s light will be forever leading’
He just made a few bad choices that’s all.” Said Aladdin. He couldn’t help but
let his sorrow take over him as Jasmine held him close to her. She tried to
comfort him. Isabel had woken up because of a nightmare and joined them.

Cassim’s spirit suddenly found himself in an
unfamiliar place. It was a beautiful place. There were floors of gold and the
walls where white. It was a warm, happy place. Ahead of him was an angel. She
was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

             “Where am I?” He thought.

“You are, where the journey of life, the hardship and
turmoil of earth ends.” Said the Angel.

Cassim gazed at the floating seraph and was in awe
of her beauty. “Who are you?” Was all he could say.

“I think you know,” She said as she stroked his
cheek. All of a sudden his questions were all answered before he could even ask
them.

“Isabel, Aladdin...my children” He said sadly.

“Not to worry, you may see them through this.” Said
the angel as she showed him a small pool of water used to gaze down at earth.
He saw his children and how hurt they were.

“ No...” He said. “Even heaven feels empty without my
son and my daughter.”

“Oh, you’re not in heaven yet, this is a place all go
to be judged. We’ve watched you through the years. We watched as you stole,
plundered, and tore families apart, however you seem to be a kind man at heart,
that’s why we are sending you back to make good of your life. To redeem
yourself.” Said the heavenly creature.

“You mean I am going back to earth?”

              “Yes. You’re
not ready to cross over yet. You still have many lessons to learn. Cassim,
remember what I am sending you back for...you must not forget. If you do then you
may not come back here when your time on earth is through.” Saith the angel.

There was a burst of light as he returned to his
body. Aladdin held Isabel and tried to calm the crying little girl down.

“Not again. My mommy did this to me too.” She cried.

“I know dear, so did mine.” Said Aladdin. He wiped
her tears and brushed her bangs back. Aladdin gave his little sister a kiss.

“I was your age when my mommy died.” Said Jasmine.

               Cassim slowly opened his eyes.

“Isabel.” He whispered. Isabel turned and right when
she saw that her father was still alive she jumped out of Aladdin’s arms.
Cassim sat up and scooped little Isabel in his arms.

“Daddy!” She cried. Her eyes were red from weeping.
Aladdin was amazed.

                “Father, I thought you were–“

“It just wasn’t my time son.”

“How???” Asked Genie. When Genies are puzzled it’s
often a sign that something’s not right. Genies are supposed to know everything
right?

                “It’s a miracle.” Said Jasmine.

                “Yes a miracle.” Said Aladdin.

“So what are you planning on doing now?” Asked
Jasmine to Cassim.

“I have realized that life should be spent with the
people you love.” Said Cassim.

               “Father, we
will be delighted if you lived in the palace. I don’t want you traveling around
so much. Please stay here in Agrabah with us.” Offered Aladdin.

“Are you kidding son? Everything I need is here.” He
said as he hugged his children.

Isabel just cuddled next to Cassim.

“It was amazing. I was in a beautiful place. There
was a beautiful woman. She wasn’t just any woman. She was an angel.”

“Daddy saw an angel?” Asked Isabel.

“I did sweetheart. She was so beautiful with a warm
glow.” Continued Cassim.

                Isabel yawned.

Aladdin was about to pick her up to put her to bed,
but Cassim stopped him.

“It’s okay son. I’ll do it. Why don’t you all get
some sleep?” Suggested Cassim.

“Father. I love you.” Said Aladdin as he hugged
him.

Those words meant so much to Cassim.

“I love you too son.” Cassim said. Than he picked
Isabel up and carried her to her room.

               “Daddy?”

               “What is it darling?”

“Don’t go” Said Isabel in her tiny voice.

“I wouldn’t dream of it honey. Now you get to sleep
okay?” He told her as he tucked her in.

              “ I love you daddy.”

Cassim kissed her and responded. “I love you too
princess.”

He stayed for a while, watching her fall asleep. He
realized how fragile life is. He was given a second chance and would live it
more wisely than before.

The moral of this story is that life is too short.
You can only get the fullness out of life if you spend it with the ones you
love. You may not get a second chance as Cassim did. He lived part of his life
never knowing his children and missed out on a lot. You must not take for
granted the beauty that is all around us. You must cherish everything that you
have.
